GET FIRED UP AT THE PHOENIX
At the Phoenix Studio you’ll find a great range of art and craft courses to help you learn a new skill, develop your ideas and express your creative side. There’s a place here for the absolute beginner, aspiring genius or seasoned practitioner. Our friendly, mostly workshop-style classes are led by experienced artists who will help your creative ideas take shape. We especially like people who think they have no artistic talent, but would love to have a go!
PURPOSE BUILT ART FACILITIES
The light and airy purpose-built studio is an inspiring space, which overlooks the wildflower meadow. It is well equipped too, and we provide the best materials and equipment to support your endeavours when you are here for a course.
WEEKDAY CLASSES
We run term-based ceramic life modelling and life drawing during certain weeks of the year. You may prefer to learn traditional methods and trusted techniques, but there’s room for free expression and experimentation.
WONDERFUL WEEKENDS
At weekends you may find a mosaic being pieced together, a human form evolving in clay or print coming out of the press; our weekend workshops are very popular. Sign up to our mailing list and keep checking the website for updates as our courses sell out quickly.
EDUCATE AND INSPIRE
James is passionate about his work and his enthusiasm is infectious, leading to a number of great art projects with local schools. A favourite was the Food Chain Totem Pole – young artists collaborated in the creation of a marvellous artwork, and along the way learned about ecosystems and food chains. If you would like James and the Phoenix team to devise a project for your school or organisation, please email or call us to discuss ideas.
EASY TO FIND AND ACCESSIBLE
The Phoenix Studio is easy to find, with plenty of parking. We’re in a tranquil haven with a wildlife garden, not far from Thame and within easy reach of Oxford, Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead – a little over an hour from central London. The studio is wheelchair friendly and easily accessible for those with limited mobility.
A COMMUNITY of ARTISTS
The Phoenix Studio is a special place. People come to learn a new skill or develop their practise, and then find they have become a part of a community of artist friends who share ideas and tips, or debate the latest hot topic or just gossip along with tea and cake around the big table. Come and see us – you are welcome! – and you’ll see what we mean.
MODELS WANTED
We are not really looking for any additional life models at this moment in time, but if you are an experienced life model and live near to us then do be in touch and we can put you on our books.
