Clay Portraiture with Jane Hamilton

Clay Portraiture with Jane Hamilton

Member of The Society of Portrait Sculptors, Jane Hamilton, returns to the Phoenix Studio for two days of clay portraiture.

Jane will advise and guide you along the way.  We provide the model, equally you can bring your own, a friend or family member perhaps? Once finished we can fire your piece or you can take it home to have it cast.

Jane’s first encounter with portraiture just happened; she discovered a passion for capturing the complexities of the human face and her journey began.  Since then her journey has seen her undertake many commissions and take part in a wealth of respected exhibitions.

“I find each commission a tremendous challenge, whether the subject is young or old.  Early adolescence is a particularly interesting age, as there is still the vulnerability of youth but with the beginnings of an adult bone structure. Each individual head is a journey of discovery. Portraiture is not just about getting a likeness, it’s about trying to capture the essence of the character.”
